CHOIRTHON - 10th June @Walcot Methodist Chapel Bath
12 (midday) to 10pm in aid of Turkey & Syria Appeal - https://www.justgiving.com/page/choirthon
There will be 10 x 1 hour concerts running back to back, performed by a wide selection of local choirs of all styles, ages and abilities. Choirs will sing between 5 and 40 minutes each, and become part of the audience to support their peers. There will also be short moments of community singing in each hour.
Every choir singer and audience member will be asked to donate a minimum of £5 to perform/listen. It is hoped that at the end of the day there will have been around 50 singers in every one hour slot. This means 500 singers, 500 audience donating £5 each making target of £5000. - £10 could provide blankets for two people to keep them warm
- £50 could provide emergency food for two families for 10 days
- £100 could provide emergency shelter for four families
Singers and audience only need to donate once, but they will need to book their tickets for the free concert. They are actively encouraged to stay longer than their one hour slot to hear other choirs - and possibly return later on during the day. BUT, with minimal room, Audience must book their free tickets online (eventbrite site will go live once all choirs are booked)
Choirs will submit an online form https://forms.gle/GkwsvEVK3QJRD8v28 (by 1st April) expressing their wish to sing in the Choirthon. This form will include which 1 hour slots work best for their choir, and for how long they would like to perform (5 minutes to 40 minutes)
The Choirthon will be part of the Bath Fringe Festival and appear in the brochure, and online.
Finch Music would organise the event and Matt Finch would host the event.
Guest Choirs, not from Bath, are also welcome to join, although local Bath choirs will be given priority.
